Dishes not showing up

Modified on Mon, 3 Mar at 7:36 AM

With our solution, both us and the clients have the ability to 86 an item almost instantly. With that being said sometimes there are situations where the dish in question is not showing up on the menus and you have no idea why it is like this. The following is some possibilities and some solutions to help alleviate this situation. Before following the steps below, it is always a good idea to publish to make sure that the menus get the latest update.

iPad is offline:

Sometimes the simplest things are the things we overlook. When changes are made to the menu, in order for them to be visible they need to be connected to Wi-Fi and have an active internet connection. If they do not have either, nothing that was published using the back end or the CMS would be visible on the menus.

Please take a look at the following article and follow the instructions to reconnect the menu to Wi-Fi. iPad are not updating

Dishes marked as inactive:

Marking an item as inactive is a quick and easy method with one button to 86 an item almost immediately. In the event that the dishes is not coming back on the menu, it is not going to be visible on the menu at all and it is as if the dish never existed. When logging in to the CMS you see the dish as inactive, it is as easy as clicking on the inactive button on the dish in question, mark it as active, and click on publish.

Sometimes when you run out of a certain ingredient you do not want to mark a dish as inactive and hidden from the entire menu. In the CMS when you click on the dish and go on the information tab of the sub screen, on the bottom there are options to mark them as sold out or not available. Marking a dish as sold out or not available will keep the item visible on the menu, however it will have a banner on the dish itself that it is either sold out or not available (whichever was chosen). With this clients can see that the dish does exist on the menu however it is sold out or not available for that specific day. When clients come by the next time and see the same dish as active, they would immediately order it as they know that is what they missed out on last time they were there.

Dish is in the wrong category:

Sometimes the dish in question is not visible due to it being in the wrong category. Logging into the CMS and searching for the dish, on top of the dish the category of where the dish is located. If the dish is not in the right category, you can click on the dish itself and in the information tab and under the name of the dish, you can change the category of where the dish belongs to and move it to the correct one. Once the correct category and you click on save locally, you have to make sure to also click on save and publish for all the changes to go through to the menus.

Category inactive:

Clients who explore the menu usually click on every button that is on the screen and sometimes they click on a category see a popup message shows "This item is not being served right now". This popup is only shown when all the dishes in a category is marked as inactive. If the category is not to be used in the future, please inform graphics to remove it to minimize the menu.

Button Linked to the Wrong Category:

If all the dishes on the menu are in the correct category and also marked as active but not shown on the menu, it could be something simple as the button that leads to the category. This is a simple fix which which would take seconds to graphics to fix it. Once the change is made and a publish is pushed to the menu, please make sure that the menu that you are looking at did refresh and got the latest update.
